Abstract

This article aims at analysing applications of autonomous and peer language learning in higher education in the digital era. First the theoretical framework of these two approaches to learning will be presented, secondly, we will investigate how Web 2.0 technologies and resources can contribute to supporting and enhancing second language learning, and more particularly English acquisition. Then we analyse the LearnWeb platform, developed at the L3S Research Center of Leibniz University in Hanover, as a digital learning environment which allows learners to share and select reliable and authentic materials and resources, promoting autonomy, peer-learning and peer-tutoring.
