Monsoon wedding e Bollywood: omaggio e parodia

Abstract

Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding is defined in its genre, its themes and its peculiar realism. This is done by comparing it to some recent Indian movies, suggesting that Nair has produced a hommage to Bollywood and a “parodic” deconstruction of it. The film is interpreted as the work of a woman film director who belongs to the Indian diaspora and who renegotiates forms and ideas both of her motherland and of the western world in which she has been living for many years.
